Real Bride: Dana

Check out this real bride's DIY wedding flowers and how hydrangeas saved her a ton of money!

Today I’m sharing this lovely June wedding with gorgeous and affordable flowers.  Dana is a dear family friend and asked if I would be able to help with her wedding flowers.  Ever eager to get a chance to play with flowers, I agreed!

Dana and Jamiahus are a beautiful couple inside and out.  They had a lovely ceremony outside a country club overlooking the river.   Dana told me her style was simple and classy, so we decided on hydrangeas and roses for the flowers along with some purple alstromeria for a little color.

If you are wanting a lot of floral volume without breaking the bank, I always recommend hydrangeas. At around 3-6 dollars a stem, you only need two for a bridesmaids bouquet and three for a bride’s.  They make a big bang for your buck in centerpieces as well.  The sizable arrangements at Dana’s wedding were two hydrangeas, and a few roses and alstromeria.

Dana asked for a special touch to her bouquet wrap.  Her grandfather passed several years ago and in order to honor him at her wedding, she requested that one of his ties be incorporated into the bouquet. It was a simple touch, but so so special.

Wrap a loved ones tie around your bouquet to keep them near on your wedding day.

The wedding day was perfect, with gorgeous weather.  I made some hydrangea and lemon leaf arrangements to accent the trellis.  How pretty do those bridesmaids dresses look?  I love how they just pop!

Overall we spent around $600 for all the flowers at Dana’s wedding, a steal for all these pretty blooms!  See the flowers used below:
